Abstract
An autopsy case of disseminated aspergillosis in a 11 years and 9 months old Korean male has been reported. The patient was managed with broad spectrum antibiotics through the hospital stays of two times for liver cirrhosis.
At autopsy non-specific granulomatous or suppurative lesions were found in the lungs, endocardium, kidney, thyroid and brain. Microscopically, areas of necrosis with numerous branching mycelia were present in all the lesions of the viscera. These were widespread infarcts of the brain, with invasion of thrombi and blood vessels by the fungi. Morphologically the fungi were composed of inumerable hyphae having true septation and branching of acute angle. Chlamydospores and conidiospores were also frequently observed in the lesions.
